Houghton, MI

Located in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, the Houghton version of Beer Rhetorics (a.k.a. Keweenaw Beer Rhetorics) is a way for local students, faculty, industry professionals, and community members to connect and learn from each other through informal discussion. Meetings are held every Wednesday at 6:00pm at the Keweenaw Brewing Company in downtown Houghton.

Because of Houghton’s unique community and the geeky spirit of Michigan Tech, conversations often focus on technology, computing, digital media, rhetoric, gaming, education, and student life. However, discussion also regularly includes hunting stories, opinions on various beverages, favorite recipes, and nearly anything that can be discussed in public.

Most of the people involved are students and faculty at Michigan Technological University, though everyone is welcome. The more diverse the group gets, the more fun the conversations become, and the more everyone learns from each other. Non-drinkers and those under 21 are very welcome too, as the KBC brews fresh ginger, birch, and root beers.

Updates about the group are distributed primarily through Facebook, so don’t forget to like Keweenaw Beer Rhetorics’ page as well!
